Land-Based Healing Reconnects Us to Land and Ancestors
“Land-based healing has been seen to encourage redeveloping relationships with the land, the environment, and with other humans. Furthermore individuals reconnect to the place of their ancestors, their original instructions, or teachings. They also contextualize their selves as being future ancestors who are responsible for the future generations” (Johnson Jennings et al. 2020b; Walters et al. 2018)
Improving Indigenous Health through Love, Healing and Balance with the Land
The HOLLO Division of the Indigenous Wellness and Research Institute (IWRI) seeks to improve Indigenous health through inspiring love, healing, and balance with the land.
The HOLLO division aims to revitalize and reconnects Indigenous peoples with land and culture to decolonize health and improve Indigenous health outcomes.
We believe in our ability to share knowledge on land-based interventions to help provide culturally appropriate programs to Indigenous peoples.
With significant gaps to in Western research regarding Indigenous ways and community needs, the HOLLO Division seeks to apply culturally led and grounded approaches to our work.
By joining the Land-Based Healing research team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with diverse individuals while conducting meaningful research that makes a difference for Indigenous and non indigenous populations.
